Fellowship, and room to grow

KEEPING YOU POSTED! ~July 2024~
Dear Friends and Supporters, “Teach us to number our days…” is surely good advice as we fly through summer and the days seem to disappear like vapor! Children are starting to return to school, and we are thinking of our fall calendars. My! Fellowship
"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers." - Acts 2:42
The early church included fellowship as one of its foundational practices. Likewise, we work hard to incorporate these relationship-building opportunities into the PSP ministry. During Session, I host dinners in my home for the women of the Leadership Bible Study, and I host "Soup’s On" for the staff and interns that attend our Faith@Work breakfasts. Yes, the crockpots get a workout! This month, I hosted a summer cookout for the Faith@Work folks. (Many of these staffers also attend our Monday morning prayer times.) They enjoyed the opportunity for relaxing fellowship. Jessica and I enjoyed the opportunity to meet some of their "significant others" and to hear about their lives outside of the Statehouse. There was lots of laughter and, of course, work-talk. We ended the meal with build-your-own banana splits!

Expansion

Cass County Courthouse Besides opening the door for ministry in the Sullivan County Courthouse (thank you Christy!), the Lord has opened the door wide for ministry in the Cass County Courthouse. Our PSP team member Vicki Maughmer has received favor to launch a weekly morning prayer time with the women office holders and staff in the courthouse. We praise God for this! Please be in prayer for these efforts to safely succeed. Westfield City Council Meeting Last Monday, I attended the Westfield City Council meeting (Hamilton County) with two members of my church. After the meeting, we introduced ourselves to the councilors and told them we are thankful for their service and would be praying for them. We must have spent half an hour in good conversations with them! We have been invited to sign up to open future council meetings in prayer.

We thank the Lord for the favor shown us and for these new opportunities for ministry to leaders at the local level. I would encourage you to make a foray into your local government leadership circles. Simply go and tell them you are praying for them, and see what God does. He is on the move! Praise the Lord!
Capital Call
I am still hoping to find women willing to host a "Capital Call," a local version of Women’s Statehouse Day. Several have said they would, but no new dates have been confirmed. Would you consider stepping up, answering the call, and hosting a women's prayer day in your area? If you are interested in learning more, please reply to this email. We would love to help you get started!
Bible Studies

I have spent much time this summer writing the next Bible study guide for my ladies. This fall we will begin Living with God’s Assignments - the study of Joshua, Judges, and Ruth. Besides my Statehouse class, I will again be teaching a community class in Carmel on Monday nights, and you are welcome to join us! There will be a Zoom class option for those at a distance. Please contact me if you are interested.

I have set up a printing fund for the Bible studies that I have written, and some of you have already given generously. Thank you! The goal is to create a good inventory of these Bible studies to have on hand. Some have asked me about specific costs and needs, so here are a few more details.

The average printing cost for one spiral bound, 8 ½" x 11" study guide is $20. It reduces costs if we print in bulk orders of 80-100 books at time ($2,000 total). You can sponsor 1, 5, 10, 20, or an entire run of 100 books ($20, $100, $200, $400, or $2,000 total). Whatever the Lord lays on your heart to give is deeply appreciated! My initial goal is to have 100 printed copies of each study guide in our inventory. *Some of these study guides will be given as gifts to individuals and Bible study participants. Some will be given to help launch new ministries. Others will be sold to help replenish the Capital Call printing fund and to generate funds for ministry needs.
