2018 Women's Statehouse Day

The Lord blessed the Women's Statehouse Day way beyond our prayers, hopes, and expectations. Attendance was more than double last year's, and the common comment we heard afterward was, "I had no idea!" Attendees had no idea such an event existed, and no idea how God has salted the Indiana political arena with so many believers.
Our keynote speaker was Peggy Welch, Chief Advocacy Officer with FSSA and former legislator as well as a true prayer warrior. She encouraged guests to pray for their leaders and spoke on the value of the ministry of Public Servants' Prayer in the Indiana political arena. Additionally, State Treasurer Kelly Mitchell and State Auditor Tera Klutz each shared their God-appointed journey to the Statehouse. They also spoke on their dependence on prayer in their jobs and their encouragement knowing many people pray for them.
The prayer service was powerful with leaders praying heart-felt, fervent petitions. The morning was poignantly wrapped up by Bedford Mayor Shawna Girgis singing about the redemption of Christ's cleansing blood. It was a worshipful moment. People in the basement heard it. House members that had caucused behind closed-doors on the fourth floor opened their doors to listen. One legislator later said that the discussion had been getting quite heated, but when Shawna started to sing, they opened the door to listen, and all contention melted away.
The legislators were blown away by the gifts they each received. One said, "You are the only group here that gives to us" [without asking for something in return.]
Thank you to all who came to pray and encourage our leaders, and thank you for continuing to lift them up in prayer. Heartfelt thanks go to all those who helped with publicity and brought a group. I trust you will be making plans to come and join us again next year!
