Vicki Maughmer

Judicial Prayer Director

Vicki grew up on a farm near Walton in Cass County. She married her high school sweetheart, and they moved to Omaha, Nebraska where her husband, Rick, was serving in the Air Force. Later in Lincoln, he attended Law School at the University of Nebraska. It was no accident that their home in Lincoln was across the street from a church. They began attending, and after hearing God’s Word systematically preached, both placed their faith in Jesus Christ.

Six years later, Rick was given the opportunity to join a law firm in Cass County. Rick practiced law until he was appointed prosecutor in 1986, and elected in 2001 as Superior Court Judge. He served in that position until the Lord called him home in 2019. His death was the occasion that reunited Vicki and Pam Russell. Their conversations led to Vicki’s desire to join PSP which she did in September of 2021.

Having lived with a judge for twenty years, Vicki had acquired insight into the lives of judges rarely known by others. As judicial prayer director, her focus is praying for the justices and judges. Each day on the PSP team calendar, a judge’s name is listed for prayer. On Monday of each week, an encouraging Scripture, called Mindful Moment, is sent to their email. Not only does their week begin with a Scripture verse, a reminder is given that they are being lifted to the Lord in prayer.

In August of 2024, Vicki, with the help from others, began a morning Bible Study and prayer time for the employees at the Cass County Government Building. They meet twice a month studying Scripture, and praying for the needs brought before the group. The positive feedback from those attending has been a reminder that God can make a way when there seems to be none. Vicki is grateful for these opportunities to serve the public servants at the state level as well as the local level.
