Fall Newsletter 2026

Happy Fall! I can’t believe we are already headed into the autumn season. The summer has flown by, and as you will read below, our schedules have been full and the opportunities endless. Here are a few highlights.

Texas

In July, I was honored to speak at a pastor's conference in Texas regarding ministry in the political arena. I drove the 13+ hours down to the state where everything is bigger and stayed with an incredibly hospitable family for which I am very thankful.

Hundreds of people attended the conference. After I spoke the first night, several pastors indicated they wanted to start going to their local city and county governments to pray and provide pastoral care. In fact, one pastor told me the following evening that he had met with the mayor that day and was already planning to attend the city meetings! We are excited to see pastors catch the biblical vision to reach public servants with the love of Jesus through prayer and pastoral care.  We call this initiative to local elected leaders, "Project 1816." Zambia Missions Trip

Several years ago we met Bro. Allen Kasungami, a pastor from Zambia, while speaking at a conference in New York City. We met with him again while teaching at a conference in Geneva, and then invited him to the conference we taught in Kenya. He has become a good friend, as well an influential leader in his country, and is highly respected among pastors and political leaders. 

Bro. Allen has invited our PSP team to come to Zambia next month to conduct two conferences for political, pastoral, and business leaders. One conference will be in Lusaka and one in Livingstone. We are taking a delegation of seven team members on this mission trip, and can really use your prayers! Due to the high costs of airfare, this trip is considerably more expensive than we anticipated. Called to Prayer and Presence

Greetings from the southeast corner of Indiana. It has been a busy summer with numerous ministry opportunities. Much of my time this past month was setting up appointments for our team mission trip to Washington D.C.

Ten of our PSP ministry team recently spent a week in D.C. meeting with 9 of our 11 federal elected leaders from Indiana, one from Kentucky and one from Arkansas (as well as both U.S. Senate and U.S. House Chaplains and other individuals on Capitol Hill), encouraging them, hearing their concerns, praying with them, and caring for them. Please pray for these leaders who face so many challenges and pressures in such a difficult environment. Pray for their marriages, their families, and most importantly their relationship with the Lord. It’s amazing what we have seen Him do when we carry out our mission to pray for our leaders according to 1 Timothy 2:1-4!

Re-vamped Website In the Works

Check out our newly redesigned website at thepsp.org! The updated tools we have installed should greatly expand your ability to pray more specifically for your leaders.

1. Start by going to “settings” and creating a user profile to personalize your prayer list. As you enter your mailing address, it will tell you who represents you in the Statehouse and in Washington DC. This can be done for the entire United States! (We do not sell or share your information.) 

2. You can also choose a daily prayer list or a weekly one. The weekly one is tailored to help churches put three leaders to pray for in their bulletins or digital announcements. You can choose which time of day to have your daily emailed prayer list arrive, or which day and time to have the weekly one arrive.

3. For those of you from Indiana, we have included a CITY prayer list of leaders for 20 or so of Indiana's larger cities. You can click on this option to have your city added to your daily prayer list. We are working on adding more cities as we are able, so if this is something you are interested in (even if you are not in Indiana) and your city is not up yet, let us know and we can move it to the priority list. 

4. We have also added an INTERNATIONAL prayer piece. If desired, you can click this option to add praying for the leader(s) of one of our world’s nations every day as well.

Annual Indianapolis Prayer Service

Our annual Indianapolis Prayer Service is just around the corner! On Tuesday, October 27th, we will gather in the Public Assembly Room inside the City-County Building at 11am. Mayor Hogsett, Council President Maggie Lewis, other public servants, pastors, and more will join our PSP Team as we bring the needs of our city and its communities before the Lord. We invite you to join us on this special day!

CCB Ministry

Ministry in the CCB (City-County Building) is very fluid, as the needs and priorities change regularly. There are a lot of hardworking individuals that focus intently on making our city the best it can be; all the while, many tend to look past their greatest need of a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. The CCB may lack the stately beauty of our Statehouse, as the CCB is simply a large 28 floor office building, but the 3,000+ employees and volunteers of Indianapolis who work there have the same spiritual and emotional needs. What a blessing it is to minister there! You can do this too! Look up your local leaders and add them to your prayer list. Contact them, ask to pray with them, get involved in their lives. They will often respond quickly and personally to your emails. You can make an eternal difference in their lives.

Thank You, Churches

In my last article I wrote about the mission field giving back in the form of Statehouse ladies that ministered to me as I recovered from major surgery. This time I want to highlight two of my supporting churches for their investment also.

First, the day after I arrived home from surgery, my home experienced a plumbing issue and flooding. It took a week and several thousand dollars to fix. One church immediately came and helped with flood remediation, and another covered the cost of the plumbing repairs. THANK YOU! I praise God for you.

Secondly, the mission trip to Zambia next month is a very expensive trip and one of the aforementioned churches has stepped up to the plate to cover my and Marsha’s travel and lodging expenses. I can’t tell you how that encourages our hearts! I know other members of our team have been blessed to have their churches helping with their expenses as well. We are so grateful. 

We would appreciate you undergirding our team in prayer for this substantial endeavor. Please pray for safe travel on the roads and no flight delays, good health, physical safety and stamina, open doors and hearts, and wisdom as we prepare and deliver our sessions. “For a great door and effectual is opened unto [us], and there are many adversaries.” 1 Corinthians 16:9

Thank you, churches and individuals, for your incredibly generous financial and prayer support, for demonstrating your belief in what the Lord has called us to do, and helping us to walk through the doors He has opened for us!

Recovery Blessings

I have been recovering from surgery for the past couple of months, and I have greatly missed being at the Statehouse. While I am thankful for technology that has allowed me to continue working remotely, being out of commission for so long—and having to depend on others for so many things—has certainly been a test of patience.

Nevertheless, God has faithfully surrounded me with family, friends, and co-laborers in the faith who have cared for me, visited me, and loved me in so many ways. I am incredibly thankful for each of these precious gifts from the Lord!

Internship Program

PSP has partnered with several Christian universities to recruit interns to serve alongside our chaplaincy team. I have been tasked with heading up this internship program. Please pray that we can get all the details worked out, that God would help us effectively cast the vision for this ministry and that these students would come to understand the political arena as a unique and important mission field.
