Ryan Fecteau is a member of the Maine House of Representatives, representing District 132. He assumed office on December 3, 2024. His current term ends on December 1, 2026. The Maine House of Representatives elected Fecteau speaker of the House in December 2024. He previously served as House speaker from 2020 to 2022. During his first tenure as speaker, Fecteau was the youngest presiding officer in the United States and the first openly gay person in the state elected speaker. Fecteau was born in Biddeford, Maine, in 1992. He received a bachelor's degree in political science from The Catholic University of America in 2014. As of January 2026, Fecteau was the senior officer of planning and partnerships at Avesta Housing. Fecteau was elected to the state House in 2014 to represent District 11. He defeated Debi Davis 64.2% to 31.4%, and served until he was term limited in 2022. Fecteau was elected again to the state House in 2024, running unopposed to represent District 132. During his time in the House, Fecteau has chaired the Elections Committee and the Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development Committee. Upon being elected House speaker in 2024, Fecteau said of his leadership team: "We are eager to get to work on an agenda that recognizes the needs of all Mainers and addresses the issues that matter most to our communities. From tackling the high cost of living and ensuring access to quality healthcare, to advancing educational opportunities and increasing the housing supply, we are committed to making real, positive change."
