Julie Mayfield was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and lives in Asheville, North Carolina. She earned a bachelor's degree from Davidson College in 1989 and a law degree from Emory Law School in 1996. Mayfield's career experience includes working as vice president and general counsel of Georgia Conservancy, an attorney, and the co-director of MountainTrue.
