Marvin R. Baxter was an associate justice on the California Supreme Court. He was appointed to the court in the state's assisted appointment method of judicial selection in January 1991 by Governor George Deukmejian. He was retained to a full twelve-year term in 2002. Baxter announced his retirement in June 2014, effective at the end of his term on January 4, 2015.
