Michele Guyton was born in Madison, Tennessee. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Anthropology from Vanderbilt University (1989), an M.A. in Psychology and Women's Studies from Radcliffe College Graduate Consortium of Women's Studies/Brandeis University (1992), and a Ph.D. in Developmental and Social Psychology from Brandeis University (1996). Her career has included roles as a graduate research assistant at the Wellesley College Center for Women, a counselor at the Preterm Women's Health Clinic, a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Iowa Department of Psychology, a program developer for at-risk families at the Iowa City Domestic Violence Center, an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Iowa Department of Psychology, and an educational consultant and family educator for the Durham County North Carolina Department of Mental Health. She has served on numerous boards and commissions, including the Kennedy Krieger Institute, the Maryland Commission on Disabilities, and the Maryland State Board of Education. She was first elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2018.
