Taylor Rehmet

Senator · District 9
Texas

Senator Taylor Rehmet is a veteran, machinist, and union leader, bringing his working-class background to the Texas Senate. He is focused on increasing workers’ rights and pay, strengthening public schools, lowering healthcare costs, expanding small business support, and protecting senior citizens and retirees, all to deliver a more affordable Texas. Born and raised in Garland, Texas, Senator Rehmet grew up in a household defined by hard work and dedication. His father was an aircraft mechanic and his mother a hairstylist, instilling in him the values of responsibility and service. Upon completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his military service, Senator Rehmet returned home and began his career as an aerospace machinist, applying the technical skills he developed in uniform. His observations of the shop floor’s challenges led him to union organizing, where he currently serves as president of both his local and state and local and state chapters of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). Outside the Capitol, Senator Rehmet is known for keeping life simple and spending time with family and neighbors, staying connected to the community that raised him, and taking walks with his French Bulldog, Samson. Senator Rehmet’s public service is grounded in the belief that government should be responsive, practical, and accountable to the people it serves.
