Larry Walker

Senator · District 20
Georgia

Larry Walker is a member of the Georgia State Senate, representing District 20. He assumed office on December 18, 2015. His current term ends on January 11, 2027. The Georgia Senate unanimously elected Walker president pro tempore on January 12, 2026. The president pro tempore presides over the senate when the lieutenant governor is absent and helps guide the legislative process. Walker said, "As President Pro Tempore, I will keep the Senate focused on cutting taxes, cutting unnecessary red tape and standing up for working families who are too often burdened by an overgrown bureaucracy. Georgians deserve a government that works for them, not one that gets in their way." Walker earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia in 1987. His career experience included working as an accountant for Coca-Cola, a sales manager at Walker Rhodes Tractor Co., and as the chief executive officer of Walker Insurance Agency. Walker also served on the boards of several organizations, including the Methodist Home, Museum of Aviation, and Morris Bank. He chaired the Perry Downtown Development Board and Middle Georgia Technical College Board and was vice chair of the Houston County Rotary Club.
