Tom Umberg was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Umberg served in the Army and reached the rank of Captain, and as of November 2019 was a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He earned a J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles, Hasting School of Law. Umberg’s career experience includes working as the Deputy Drug Czar for President Bill Clinton, and an Assistant United States Attorney in Orange County. He founded the law firm Umberg Zipser LLP. Umberg was elected to serve as the State Senator for California Senate District 34.
