Wilson received a bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 1981 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1984. Prior to his appointment to the State of New York Court of Appeals, he was an attorney in private practice from 1986 to 2017 with Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. He was a law clerk to Judge James R. Browning of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals from 1984 to 1986.
