Melissa Osborne

Representative Osborne is serving her second term as the State Representative of the 16th House District, proudly representing the people of Simsbury in the General Assembly. Representative Osborne is the founder and managing attorney of her own family and divorce law practice in Avon, which she has run since 2011. With more than 28 years of legal experience, her extensive career encompasses corporate real estate transactions and joint venture development, as well as representing Connecticut's most vulnerable children and families. Drawing on this deep professional background, she championed groundbreaking legislation requiring timely support hearings in Family Court, an important reform designed to prevent financial abuse and ensure greater financial stability during divorce proceedings. Representative Osborne brings her broad range of experience to bear in addressing the state's most pressing economic and social challenges. As a small business owner, she has firsthand experience with the challenges entrepreneurs face, reinforcing her commitment to policies that are pro-work and pro-entrepreneur. She understands that supporting small businesses is essential to creating local jobs, strengthening the economy, and helping families achieve lasting financial independence. Representative Osborne has been an active volunteer in her community, where she served on Simsbury's Zoning Commission, Charter Revision Commission and Clean Energy Task Force. In the legal arena, she serves on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, previously served as its Vice Chair of the Child Welfare and Juvenile Law Committee, and is a member of the Simsbury Regional Association and the Hartford County Bar Association.
