
Ashanti Martinez attended Parkdale High School and Howard University, where they earned a B.A. in Political Science and Government in 2018. Their professional career includes serving as a Congressional Intern for U.S. Representative Elijah E. Cummings and U.S. Representative Steny Hoyer, working as a Campaign Director for the College Democrats of America at Howard University, and acting as Deputy Political Director for Joseline Pena-Melnyk for Congress. They also served as a Resident Assistant at Howard University, Campaign Manager for Vivian Flowers, Constituent Services staff for Council Member Thomas E. Dernoga, and a Research and Policy Analyst for CASA. Most recently, they served as Chief of Staff for the Prince George's County Council District 7 Office and as a Communications Specialist for the Prince George's County Council. Martinez has been a member of the Maryland House of Delegates since February 24, 2023.
