Roger Niello grew up in Sacramento, California, and, as of 2023, lived in Fair Oaks, California. Niello graduated from Encina High School. He earned a B.S. in accounting and information systems from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1970 and his M.S. in accounting and information systems from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1971. His career experience includes working as a certified public accountant and as CFO, president, and general manager for the family business, Niello Auto Group. He also served as the president and CEO of the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce. Niello was elected to serve on the Sacramento County board of supervisors in 1999.
