Amy Nielsen was born in Keokuk Iowa. Nielsen graduated from Iowa City West High School in 1995. She has served as the mayor of North Liberty, Iowa, as the Iowa state director of the National Foundation of Women Legislators, on the Iowa City Community School District’s Equity Advisory Committee, on the Community Education Districtwide Advisory Council, on the Johnson County Metropolitan Planning Organization, and on the North Liberty Community Pantry Board of Directors. Nielsen has also been affiliated with the Garner Elementary Walking School Bus program and the Iowa City Blue Zones Project.
