Jim Runestad is a member of the Michigan State Senate, representing District 23. He assumed office on January 1, 2023. His current term ends on January 1, 2027. Runestad is also the Republican Party of Michigan Chair. Runestad is a former Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 44 from 2015 to 2019. In February 2025, Runestad was elected chairman of the Michigan Republican Party.
