
Born in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Stephanie Smith graduated from Hampton University with a B.A. in Political Science in 2003, the University of Delaware with an M.A. in Urban Affairs and Public Policy in 2006, and Howard University School of Law with a J.D. in 2009. Her professional background includes service as an AmeriCorps VISTA, a Fellow with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, a staff attorney for Earthjustice from 2010 to 2016, and Assistant Director of the Department of Planning (Equity, Engagement and Communications) for the City of Baltimore since 2017. First elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2018, she has served in the chamber since January 9, 2019.
