
Steven Jensen is a judge of the South Dakota Supreme Court District 4. He assumed office on November 3, 2017. His current term ends on January 5, 2029. Jensen was elected by his peers to a four-year term as chief justice in 2020, effective January 5, 2021. Jensen was re-elected to an additional four-year term effective January 6, 2025. Jensen first joined the court through a gubernatorial appointment. Gov. Dennis Daugaard appointed Jensen to the South Dakota Supreme Court in September 2017 to replace Justice Lori Wilbur.
