Jeanne Shaheen is a member of the U.S. Senate from New Hampshire. She assumed office on January 3, 2009. Her current term ends on January 3, 2027. Senate to represent New Hampshire. On March 12, 2025, Shaheen announced she would not seek re-election to the U.S. Senate. Prior to her election to the Senate, Shaheen served as the governor of New Hampshire from 1997 to 2003. She is the first woman to be elected both a governor and a U.S. senator. Before being elected governor, Shaheen served in the New Hampshire State Senate from 1990 to 1996.
