

Veronica Escobar is a member of the U.S. House, representing Texas' 16th Congressional District. She assumed office on January 3, 2019. Her current term ends on January 3, 2027. Escobar is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Texas' 16th Congressional District. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 3, 2026. She advanced from the Democratic primary on March 3, 2026. Along with Sylvia Garcia, Escobar is the first Hispanic woman to represent Texas in the U.S. House.
