Francis Thompson is a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 19. He assumed office on January 13, 2020. His current term ends on January 10, 2028. Thompson was a Democratic member of the Louisiana State Senate, representing District 34 from 2008 to 2020. Thompson served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1975 to 2007. He ran for Congress in 1996. On March 17, 2023, Thompson announced he was leaving the Democratic Party and would register as a Republican.
