Robert Duvall is a former member of the Nashville Metro Council in Tennessee, representing District 33. He was elected to the council in 2007 and served until 2015. Duvall was a 2015 candidate for an at-large seat on the Nashville Metro Council. The general election took place on August 6, 2015. In 2012, Duvall was a Republican candidate for District 59 of the Tennessee House of Representatives. Duvall was a delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention from Tennessee. Duvall was one of 33 delegates from Tennessee bound by state party rules to support Donald Trump at the convention. As of July 13, 2016, Trump had approximately 1,542 delegates. The winner of the Republican nomination needed the support of 1,237 delegates. Trump formally won the nomination on July 19, 2016. Duvall died on December 14, 2020, due to complications from surgery.
