A proud product of a multi-generational Idaho ranching family, Garret Nelson’s roots in land management run deep. After graduating from Nampa Christian High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science Production, with an emphasis in range management, from the University of Idaho. Though Garret initially returned to Mackay, Idaho, to manage the family ranch, his career path eventually led him to the Amalgamated Sugar Company in Nampa, where he served as a pipe and boiler welder. In 2015, a sales position with Gravity Payments brought him to Alaska for the first time. Garret’s dedication to his community and representative government is evidenced by his long-standing service on the Sutton Community Council, where he recently served as Chair.
