Ángel Fourquet

Representative Ángel Fourquet Cordero has distinguished himself through his commitment to transparency, economic development, and the defense of citizen rights and communities. Elected in 2020 to represent District 24, which includes the city of Ponce, he has worked to ensure resources reach communities with efficiency and justice, focusing on the oversight of public funds, access to housing, the reconstruction of the southern region, and the stability of the energy system. Since arriving in the legislature, his work has been key in the House of Representatives, where he has established himself as an overseer and defender of efficient government management. During his first term, he chaired the Committees on Housing and Urban Development, Oversight of Public Funds, and the Committee for the Development of the Southwest Region, promoting solutions for the housing title crisis and the proper distribution of recovery funds for the south. Re-elected in 2024, he now serves as the spokesperson for the Popular Democratic Party delegation in the Government Committee, where he focuses on energy system oversight, service efficiency, agency restructuring, and the modernization of administrative processes. He also serves as a spokesperson on the Committee on Elderly and Social Welfare and the Joint Committee for the Review and Implementation of Administrative Regulations, advocating for policies to protect the elderly population. His academic and professional background includes a Juris Doctor, graduated Magna Cum Laude, from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico in 2011, and a Master's degree in Public Administration in 2020. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Prior to his legislative role, he worked as an attorney and legal advisor in state and municipal matters, specializing in administrative, labor, and urban development issues.
