
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Chris West graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in 1972 and from the University of Pennsylvania with a J.D. in 1975. A member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 2015 to 2019, he was first elected to the Maryland Senate in 2018 and has served in the chamber since January 9, 2019. Throughout his career, he has served as Legal Counsel for the Maryland Republican Party and was a Principal at the firm Semmes, Bowen and Semmes, where he chaired the Business Law Department. His public service has included roles on the Task Force to Study Fiduciary Adjudication in Maryland, the State Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy, and the Maryland Historical Trust, among various other committees and workgroups.
