DeWine received his undergraduate degree from Miami University in 1990 and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1994. DeWine was previously a judge on the Ohio First District Court of Appeals. He was elected to that court in November 2012. Before joining the appellate court, DeWine practiced law with the firm of Keating, Muething & Klekamp in Cincinnati, Ohio, for 13 years. He then served as a judge for the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas for four years.
