Lamont Bagby is a member of the Virginia State Senate, representing District 14. He assumed office on January 10, 2024. His current term ends on January 12, 2028. Bagby is also the Democratic Party of Virginia Chair. Bagby also ran in a special election to the Virginia State Senate to represent District 9. Bagby also ran in a special election to the U.S. House to represent Virginia's 4th Congressional District. He did not appear on the ballot for the special Democratic convention on December 20, 2022. In March 2025, Bagby was elected as chairman of the Democratic Party of Virginia.
