Javier Loera Cervantes was born in Chicago, Illinois. Cervantes graduated from Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in 1999. His career experience includes working as the legislative and community relations director for Chicago Alderwoman Stephanie Coleman "Stephanie Coleman (Illinois)"), a deputy campaign manager for former Illinois State Senator Antonio Munoz, and a collective bargaining and representation representative with the SEIU HCII.
