Born in Jamaica, West Indies in 1961, Arthur Ellis emigrated to the United States in 1970. He graduated from Uniondale High School in 1979, served in the U.S. Air Force from 1983 to 1989 and the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1989 to 2001. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Maryland, College Park (1983) and an M.S. in Accountancy from the City University of New York, Herbert Lehman College (1989). Professionally, he has worked as an associate at the Mitchell Titus Accounting Firm, an instructor for the Maryland Association of CPAs, an accounting instructor at the University of Maryland University College, and an adjunct professor of accounting at the University of the District of Columbia. He has been a CPA and business owner since 2012. First elected to the Maryland Senate in 2018, he has served as a member of the Senate since January 9, 2019.
