Stephanie Nguyen was raised in Sacramento, California, and lives in Elk Grove, California. Nguyen earned a B.A. in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies from California State University-Sacramento in 2001. Her career experience includes working as the executive director of Asian Resources, Inc. (ARI) and, before that, as the director of the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber (SACC) Foundation. On February 2, 2017, Nguyen was unanimously appointed to serve as the District 4 councilmember for the City of Elk Grove. She was elected to the position in 2018 and served as the vice mayor in 2020.
