Jeremy Stine is a member of the Louisiana State Senate, representing District 27. He assumed office on December 3, 2021. His current term ends on January 10, 2028. He was elected majority leader in December 2023 after the former leader, State Sen. Sharon Hewitt, retired. Stine was born in 1980 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He received a degree in political science and French from Louisiana State University. Stine worked as marketing director for Stine Lumber, his family's business, and as an associate banker with Stephens, Inc. He also worked as a legislative aide to the Jefferson Parish Legislative Delegation in the Louisiana State Legislature and as a legislative aide to U.S. Sen. David Vitter. Stine first ran for the Louisiana State Senate when District 27 incumbent Ronnie Johns resigned after Gov. John Bel Edwards appointed him to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. He won election outright against Dustin Granger and Jake Shaheen in the special primary for District 27 on November 13, 2021. Stine said, "[f]irst and foremost, my Christian values are the guiding force in my life. I will always stand to defend our religious liberties and protect your right to worship." He also said his priorities as Senate leader were "streamlining operations and fostering deeper public engagement, centering on key principles such as individual freedom, smaller government, the rule of law, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and human dignity."
