
Jonathan Biran is a judge for the 5th Circuit of the Maryland Supreme Court. He assumed office on December 16, 2019. His current term ends on December 31, 2030. Biran ran for re-election for the 5th Appellate Circuit judge of the Appellate Court of Maryland. He won in the retention election on November 3, 2020. Biran became a member of the court through gubernatorial appointment. He was appointed to the court on December 9, 2019, by Governor Larry Hogan to fill Clayton Greene's vacant seat. The court's name changed from the Maryland Court of Appeals to the Maryland Supreme Court, following a ballot initiative that voters approved in November 2022.
