Daniel Burgess is a member of the Florida State Senate, representing District 23. He assumed office on November 8, 2022. His current term ends on November 7, 2028. On December 15, 2018, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that he had chosen Burgess to become veterans' affairs director in his administration. He was unanimously approved on January 24, 2019. He resigned from that office on June 18, 2020, to run in the state Senate District 20 special election.
