
Wise earned her B.S. in biology from Auburn University in 1985, her J.D. from Jones School of Law in 1994, and her M.P.A. from Auburn University in Montgomery in 2000. Prior to joining the court, she worked in private practice, in Gov. Fob James' Legislative Office, and as a staff attorney to Justice Jean Brown. Wise was elected to the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals in 2000, becoming the youngest woman elected to serve on the Alabama Appellate Courts. Wise was re-elected in 2006 and became Presiding Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals in 2008. She was elected to the Alabama Supreme Court in 2010. As of May 2021, she was a member of the Federalist Society.
