
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Mary Beth Carozza graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin, Maryland, in 1979. She earned both a B.A. and an M.A. in Political Philosophy and American Government from The Catholic University of America in 1983 and completed the Harvard Senior Managers Government Program in 1994. Carozza has held numerous high-level government positions, including serving as Press Secretary for U.S. Senator William Cohen (1984-1986), Chief of Staff for U.S. Congressman Mike DeWine (1986-1990), and staff for U.S. Congressman David Lee Hobson (1990-2000). She served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for House Affairs (2001-2003), Deputy Chief of Staff for the Office of Governor Robert Ehrlich (2003-2007), Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Susan M. Collins (2007-2009), and on the U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee (2009-2010). She later worked as Chief of Staff for U.S. Representative Steve Stivers (2011-2012) and founded MBS Consulting, LLC in 2013. Carozza served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2015 to 2019 and was first elected to the Maryland Senate in 2018.
