Blue earned his B.S. in mathematics from North Carolina Central University in 1970. He went on to receive his J.D. from Duke University Law School in 1973. Blue was an employee at the Law Offices of Terry Sanford from 1973 to 1976. He has been partner at Thigpen, Blue, Stephens and Fellers Law Firm since 1976.
