Kesha Ram Hinsdale is a member of the Vermont State Senate, representing Chittenden Southeast District. She assumed office on January 4, 2023. Her current term ends on January 6, 2027. Ram Hinsdale was elected Vermont Senate majority leader on November 16, 2024. In a secret ballot election, Ram Hinsdale defeated two-term incumbent majority leader Alison Clarkson. After the vote, Ram Hinsdale wrote, "We came away today with more unity and optimism as Senate Democrats than when we began, and we look forward to extending that goodwill and cooperation to the rest of our colleagues and partners." Ram Hinsdale was born in Los Angeles, California. She earned bachelor's degrees in natural resource planning and political science from the University of Vermont in 2008 and an M.P.A. from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government in 2018. During her college years, she was University of Vermont student body president and an intern for Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Her career experience included working as a public engagement specialist for Burlington's Community and Economic Development Office, teaching at Vermont Law & Graduate School, and serving as co-chair of the Vermont Attorney General’s Immigration Task Force.
