Ainsworth graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in marketing. At the time of his service in the State House, his professional experience included serving as a youth pastor at Grace Fellowship Church and operating Dream Ranch, a hunting and fishing lodge. He had also served on the board of directors for the Northeast Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
