Gordon MacDonald

Justice
New Hampshire

Gordon MacDonald is the New Hampshire Supreme Court Chief Justice. He assumed office on March 4, 2021. His current term ends on November 27, 2031. In New Hampshire, the position of chief justice is a specific seat on the court (similar to the Supreme Court of the United States) rather than a peer-selected leadership position. Governor Chris Sununu nominated him to succeed former Chief Justice Robert Lynn on January 7, 2021, and the New Hampshire Executive Council voted 4-1 to confirm his nomination on January 22, 2021. MacDonald served as New Hampshire attorney general from 2017 to 2021.
